Clouds in the Sky

I was moving my plants outside, and I looked up and saw clouds in the sky. Its very rare for clouds to be in the sky in Southern California, so I grabbed my SLR and I took a picture I really liked. I like the silhouettes of house, trees, polls and power lines, etc...

Playing With Color Correction

I watched a couple tutorials on youtube on color correction and exposure adjustment. Here's what i did.
Here is the original photo, no cropping. A very dark photo.

Old way of adjusting the photo. It does feel drab to me the more I looked at it.

Here is the color correction with the tips I saw on youtube. I like what I'm getting with this. but it still felt a little cold to me.

I adjust the color just a tad, and a couple other things, and I really like how this photo turned out. It makes the subject pop out more.

Any suggestions? I'm going for straight color correction and exposure adjustment.

The Infamous Nikon D60

If you are wondering why I'm posting pictures taken with a Nikon D60, well that's because I started off with a Nikon D60, and six months later I upgraded to a Nikon D90 body. So while I was going through all my photos, I did take a lot of pictures with the D60, hence posting many pictures taken with the Nikon D60.

The Nikon D90 is the camera body i use now, and pictures taken with the D90 are going to go up starting tomorrow.

FYI, I sold the Nikon D60 to Geneyem and her is her blog. http://the-barretts.blogspot.com/ She's doing a photo a day also.

I was moving my digital photos to a different drive, and I saw that I had more then 15k photos. I have deleted a lot already, but i decided to go through the photos again and delete more. I decided to delete more photos for a two reasons. 1. Hard Drive Space, 2. When I first started out I took some horrible shots, I do think I'm a lot better now then I was before.

While I was doing that, my friend Jose challenged/suggested to me to post at least one photo a day. I do think that is totally possible with the amount of photos I have taken. So here is my first installment.

I'm not not going to post my settings for the Photo a Day, just for the multiple picture entries. It was taken when I was still using the Nikon d60.

Bolsa Chica Reserve

On Wednesday morning, I left my house at 6:00am and headed to Bolsa Chica State Reserve to shoot some pictures with my friend Ken. He lent me his 300mm f/2.8 prime lens, The lens was about a 18 inches in length, and 5.5lbs. An hour into the the walk I was carrying the camera and lens like a baby. At the end of the day, it felt like it weighed 30lbs. It was a awesome half day, and i hope to do it again.

I walked across the street where they were doing some construction and walked into the property (the gate was wide open) and snapped away.

Random photos from today.

I dropped off Bhianne and then I called Joanna to tell her i was outside her house and to come out cause I wanted to say hello. Melissa and Kristine were there too, and they followed her out. The next picture was a mess up, cause I forgot to adjust my settings on my camera. But I reduced the exposure, and I now I feel artsy fartsy

Here is a picture I took of them when I quickly adjusted the settings. I wanted to set a higher f-stop, but I said forget it and kept what I had. This photo of them has a free feeling to it. Oh well that's what I get when I look at it. I messed up the framing on it, I should have taking another one.

My First Shot At A Panoramic Photo

I was walking to the Glee Panel in the adjacent building to the San Diego convention center and I saw the Dole ship. I thought this would be a great panoramic shot. So I free handed the camera (no tripod) and here is the result. (click to enlarge)

Here are two photos that I took while sitting around before Bible Study. It was really low light, so I had to set the aperture to the widest setting.
